Hurricane Flo Relief



Good morning, friends! I am compiling a collection of ways to support our community for those who wish to help. So many communities in the Carolinas have been destroyed due to the hurricane. A sign of hope is seeing all of the ways in which people are gathering together to help. 

*Please note: This is a living document, and I will continue to update this list as I receive more updates. 

Sunday September 16, 2018 

According to the Center for International Disaster Information, donating money is almost always the most efficient way to help in a disaster.
  • FYI: Michael Jordan, owner of the Charlotte Hornets and Wilmington native, created a microsite which directs those who want to donate to reputable sites.  
Beaufort, NC 

  • Beaufort Linen Company is donating 10% of their sales to the relief for the Carolinas.
Durham, NC
Greenville, NC 
  • Grifton Mission Ministries will be collecting non-perishable items and water at Texas Roadhouse in Greenville today from 2:00-4:00 p.m. 
Raleigh, NC 
  • Flourish Market is collecting donation items for Ms. Rachel's 7th grade class in New Bern, NC. The list of needs can be found @theflourishmarket on Instagram. 
  • The Carolina Calvary is collecting supplies (canned goods, water, diapers, etc) at Lynnwood Brewing Concern this week (September 14th - September 21st). If you would like to donate supplies, please drop off your donation at Lynnwood Brewing Concern during business hours.
  • The Youth Director from Ann Street United Methodist in Beaufort is here from the coast accepting donation of bottled water, non-perishable foods, batteries, mops, buckets, formula, diapers, paper towels, tarps, bleach, dog/cat food and flashlights for someone in need in Carteret county! 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. by the Hyatt House in North Hills
  • During the month of September, Dress Raleigh will be donating a portion of proceeds to American Red Cross to help all those in NC affected by Hurricane Florence.
Wilmington, NC 
  • Port City Church in Wilmington has partnered with organizations equipped with resources, knowledge, and experience  in handling natural disasters. There are many ways to support relief for Hurricane Florence on their website
  • "We Wilm Rebuild" is a grassroots, disaster relief rehabilitation project located in Wilmington. To stay up to date, join the Facebook group
North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper announced that North Carolina is accepting donations to help reach the immediate needs of those affected by the hurricane. One can contribute to the fund online or by texting FLORENCE to 20222.
