1. Make a List
I am so old fashioned when it comes to making a packing list. I use a pen and piece of paper to keep track of what I need to bring. I do this because I'll be thinking about the trip when I'm in the car or not at home and will forget the item unless I write it down somewhere. I use a Rifle Paper Co. journal to write down my items. When I am in "packing mode", I'll carry the journal with me so that wherever I go, I have my list to add to.
2. Pack a Toiletry Bag
I pack my toiletry bag one night in advance of leaving for a trip. I do this because I want to make sure that when I roll through my nightly and morning routine, I have all of the products I need. This is especially helpful when I am not checking a bag and not bringing my full sized products. I have used these travel size bottles from Target the past few trips, and they work great.
3. Organize Clothes & Shoes
I lay out all of the items that I am bringing on my bed so that I can visualize the contents in my suitcase. I'll walk through a day & night worth of activities to make sure that I have everything I need. Once my checklist is complete, I start stacking the clothes in the large suitcase compartment in this order: pajamas on the bottom, tees, shorts, then dresses & rompers. Luckily, my Lululemon 'All Day' duffle is pretty large so any overflow from my larger suitcase fits perfectly in the duffle.
And that's it! I have found this method to be very effective when quickly and lightly packing for a work trip or vacation. If you have additional packing tips and tricks, please comment with them below!
We leave for vacation on tomorrow! A 2 day work week rocks, and I am so excited to get out of town for a few days. Stay tuned for pictures from the vacation!
