Homemade Banana Bread Loaves
I N G R E D I E N T S
- Solid vegetable shortening for greasing the pan
- Flour for dusting the pan
- 1 package (18.25 oz) plain yellow cake mix
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- 2 very ripe bananas, peeled and mashed
- ¾ cup buttermilk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
D I R E C T I O N S
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease 2 9-inch loaf pans with shortening, then dust with flour.
- Place cake mix, brown sugar, mashed bananas, buttermilk, oil, eggs, and cinnamon in a large mixing bowl. Blend with hand mixer.
- Divide the batter between the prepared pans and place them in the oven side by side.
- Bake loaves until they are golden brown and a tooth pick inserted in the center of each loaf comes out clean, about 40 to 45 minutes.
- Allow loaves to cool for 20 minutes
*Store the loaves covered in aluminum foil at room
temperature for up to 1 week.
This recipe is mighty delicious! It makes 2 loaves and is
the perfect breakfast or snack as we transition into fall!
