Friendly Photoshoots

Good morning, y'all! I hope your Monday morning is off to a great start. We had a great, weekend at the beach, and I hope yours was wonderful too! A weekend highlight for me, which I shared on Instagram, was my photoshoot with my life-long best friend. Since we live in different cities, being at the beach on the same weekend worked out so perfect for the shoot. We were up early on Saturday morning to try and utilize the morning light. We took some photos in Morehead City, NC,  and then we scooted over to Beaufort, NC, to take some in a place near and dear to my heart. Hunter and I took engagement photos in Beaufort, and I knew from the start of planning this shoot, I wanted to go right back to where we took them because I loved the scenery so much.

Besides wedding and engagement photos, this was my first official photoshoot and boy did I feel incredibly awkward! In total transparency, I was overwhelmed with nervousness beforehand which I thought was odd because it was my best friend behind the camera not a stranger. I learned that this is totally normal so if you're feeling the same way - do not worry! My photographer, Emily, made me feel incredibly comfortable and made those smiles in shots genuine and enjoyable!

Later that day, I stumbled across a blog post from one of my favorite bloggers, Katey from Chronicles of Frivolity. In her post, Katey talks about owning your shoot - having confidence in yourself, as you've prepped for days for time with a photographer. In addition, she gives a few photography hacks that I found to be of interest. I wish I had read this before my shoot because Katey shares so many great tips! But I'm sharing now so that it might help someone else prepping for their first shoot. Photography is so important for bloggers like me because I'm such a visual person. I want to capture the #shoplocal movement, style, and home & garden through bright, compelling photographs. So, please join me in my continued efforts to do so!

I am still so new to this blogging thing, but I am feeling excited and encouraged. Blogging has been a huge learning experience so far that I have very much enjoyed. It has been a great outlet and hobby for me as I've transitioned into the workforce. I am so grateful for my readers and anyone who has engaged thus far. Your participation means the world! Here's to continued growth for g a t h e r e d  c o., and stay tuned for photos from the photoshoot with my incredibly talented bestie gal, Emily!
