Raleigh Review: The Capital Grille

We had a wonderful dining experience at The Capital Grille in Raleigh, NC last night. But what else can you expect at as nice of a restaurant as The Capital Grille? My hubby and I celebrated a number of different occasions that were far overdue and had an absolute blast on our date night! We had a reservation at 7:00 and when we arrived, there was a hand-written anniversary card in addition to a long stemmed red rose and confetti hearts on the table. Our booth was tucked back along the side of the restaurant so we had a great view of the restaurant and the kitchen (we both love to cook so that was a bonus for us).

We began with a champagne toast and the night was off to an amazing start! We decided to forgo an appetizer simply because I wanted to make sure we were hungry for dinner. I ordered a glass of white Zinfandel and hubby ordered his usual vodka tonic with lime. We sipped our cocktails, enjoyed the bread basket, and caught up on our days – it was such sweet time together.

For our mains, I ordered the filet mignon and Hunter ordered the roasted chicken. We split a side of mashed potatoes which was ordered a la carte. The steak was hands down one of the best we’ve ever eaten. It was cooked to the exact temperature I requested and the seasonings formed a savory crust on the outer edge of the cut. We were both incredibly impressed with our dinners. And then along came dessert. We ordered The Capital Grille cheesecake. I am a huge sweets person so I was extremely excited for this part of the meal. The cheesecake was divine! Strawberries, raspberries and blackberries were served on the side, which in my opinion gives the perfect sweet to tart ratio.

All in all, our first experience at The Capital Grille was fantastic! The service was top notch and the ambiance was great. We will most definitely return for a special occasion, and I highly recommend it for a night out with your significant other!
