Let’s chat about h a i r… I have always had long, blonde hair. Well, for the most part! I have chopped it off a couple times, but it has always stayed bright, goldy blonde! Over the years, my natural hair color has become much darker than it was when I was young. Que the bright blonde highlights! I had my first coloring experience when I was in the eighth grade, and I’ve colored it ever since. I have normal/fine hair, but I have a lot of it. Getting highlights approximately every eight weeks combined with my hair type has definitely taken a toll on the health of my hair. I have had to incorporate extra hair care steps into my routine in an effort to protect it and maintain healthy hair. Here's what has worked for me! I also linked the amazing products that I use.
My Routine
I wash my hair 3-4 times a week. I cannot go any less than
that! Not washing it every day when I shower is hard enough. I rely on Batiste
Brilliant Blonde and Living
Proof dry shampoos to get me through in between washes! I have really
enjoyed both. The Batiste dry shampoo is especially helpful when my roots are
grown out. There’s a hint of blonde color in the dry shampoo so when you use
it, it dusts your roots with a blonde color and takes away oil. Living Proof is a great product that leaves your hair feeling
clean and smelling fresh!
When washing my hair, I use amika “The Kure” shampoo and conditioner. I switch to the Oribe
“Bright Blonde” purple shampoo and conditioner once a week to maintain a bright blonde color. With my hair being chemically treated every eight weeks, I
also use a conditioning mask at least twice a week. I recently started using
the amika “The Kure” Hair Mask and will never go without this product again! It
has worked wonders on my hair, especially the ends. It smells wonderful, too!
Hair Tips
Charlotte Barton, my hair stylist, recently told me to never
brush my hair when it is wet because your hair is the most fragile while wet. Since
hearing her advice, I try to lightly comb through my hair while in the shower while
the amika hair mask is in. Doing this helps get the tangles out. A tip: purchase a Wet Brush. I swear by this product, and I really believe it is the best for gently brushing through long hair. If I can, I
try to let my hair dry a good bit before brushing through it. At that point, I spray
It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product on my hair before drying it. This product has many benefits, and
one of them is that it is a heat protectant, which is a must when using hot hair
tools. Speaking of hair tools, I use the Babyliss hair dryer to dry my hair. I purchased it about 2
months ago, and I really enjoy it! It is light weight and dries my hair very
fast. A tip: I dry my hair with my head
upside down! This gives my roots a little more volume once completely dry! Typically
when I blowout my hair, I do not need to straighten it. As I’ve gotten older,
my natural curls have transitioned into soft waves that blow out easily. Most days after a quick blow dry, my hair routine is complete. When I curl my hair,
I’ll use some Oribe “Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil” to hydrate my hair
before using the curling iron. I have found that doing this helps create gorgeous,
shiny curls. A hair tutorial is coming soon!
That completes my hair routine including all of the products I currently use and hair tips. I am by no means an expert, but this hair routine works for me! If you have any questions or have additional tips, please let me know. And as always, I am always on the hunt for new products!
